BAND OF BROTHERS on Remembrance Sunday

This is a wonderful moment from the final episode of BAND OF BROTHERS. The German Army have surrended at the end of World War 2; and their Officer requests a brief moment to address his men, which he does, with the American soldiers watching on. A beautiful scene; that really hits home the first time you see it.

  1. Beautiful scene, and if anything, conveys one of the more tragic happenings in war. In the end, regardless of what banner, dogma, ideology, politics, or leader you follow (whether good or evil), the men who fight and die in it are still men. Human. Many people forget how finite and precious that is. Beautiful speech. i love the dignity presented by the German general when orating, it's like the humility of their defeat is more divine than shameful.

  3. Yeah, Band of Brothers is a really good series with fantastic actors portraying the story very well. I just started watching it because it's my boyfriend's favorite series out there and he made me watch it so he can rewatch it.

  4. Thank you for choosing this Band of Brothers clip. I had the priviledge of meeting the men of Easy Company and Stephen Ambrose many years ago. My best friend is Smokey's (Walter Gordon)daughter. Walter was Stephen Ambrose's first contact when he began to put the B.O.B. story together. The two men remained great friends until Walter's death. To this day the remaining men still get together for reunions and my friend always attends these reunions in her father's honor. Thanks again for the clip.

  5. I just finished watching the Pacific. Couldn't understand the level of disappointment people seem to share for it. It was really good! No Band of Brothers, but then, what is?

  6. I'm one of those who liked THE PACIFIC better than BAND OF BROTHERS. I think part of my reasoning is that the war in the Pacific took a back seat to the war in Europe in modern public perception...but the fight against the Japanese was even more brutal and horrific than against Nazi Germany. While German generals would surrender, the Japanese refused to. This led to unfathomable losses on both sides.

And I guess since my father was in the Pacific for the end of the war and the occupation, and because I had a cousin killed by a sniper at Peleliu, THE PACIFIC hit home just a bit more.

I did love BAND OF BROTHERS, though differently. The siege of Bastogne in the Battle of the Bulge, General McAuliffe with "Tell him 'NUTS!'", the capture of Eagle's Nest, the liberation of the death camp and the horror of the soldiers- all unforgettable images.

And of course, this clip you've posted here. A fitting bit of closure to the series.

  7. Yea this is such a great scene in the series just shows how fortunate we are to win the war and it could've been us in the same position if we lost. It's just a good scene overall. I love the series and plan to watch The Pacific hope its a great series as well, I'm not really planning it on comparing it with Band of Brothers though.
