Who is the hottest actress working today?

My blogging usually consists of giving advice to filmmakers, discussing old movies I love, having interviews with professionals in the industry, etc. But today, I figured I would get down to what really matters. And what matters, of course, is hot actresses. I'm not talking about whose performances are the best, but rather, who is the hottest? Who is the sexiest? Who are you looking up on Google Images after you've read this?. *Please note, as I put this together, I couldn't help but bring their acting skills into my opinions. Maybe I'm not as shallow as I thought.....

Anyways, let's look at some contenders.

Well, let's start with the obvious, Megan Fox. Although, to be honest, it's yet to be seen whether she can act. But I'm sure 'Jennifer's Body' will prove she's not just a body. Megan is undeniably hot, but-- I dunno, I'm kind of bleh about her.

This is more like it, Scarlett Johannson. Anyone who is not completely in love with her is clearly on drugs. And she can definitely act! For proof of this, see 'Lost In Translation,' (one of my favourite films) 'Match Point' (she's about the only good thing in one of Woody's poorer efforts.)

You can't really have this kind of list without Cameron Diaz being a part of it, even though I think her days of being on these kinds of lists is over. It's not an age thing, just that nobody really seems bothered about her anymore. I'm still a fan though, and I think she makes some good acting choices.

To prove I'm not an ageist, I've got Monica Belluci in the list. She's now deep into her forties. Monica is a real woman, the kind who puts fluffy celebrity nobodies to shame. She's a model turned actress who can really act-- her performances are amongst the best I've seen. For a lesson is great acting and UNREAL hotness, 'Malena' is a must-see.

Going one further, Michelle Pfeiffer is now in her 50's, and still looks amazing! What is going on? Will she look this good at 90? Actually, that would be kind of sick. Mrs. Pfeiffer gets extra points for being the best actress on the list.

I sneak Natalie in casually here somewhere in the middle, as if I'm not bothered about her. But for me, Natalie's the one. Naturally beautiful, outrageously intelligent and meticulous in her choice of roles-- she's a real star.

A lot of people have been going on about Meagan Good and how hot she is, but until very recently I'd never heard of her. And then I saw 'The Unborn.' Is she hot? In a word, yes. Can she act? Um, no.

I'm not entirely sure that she would be classed conventionally as 'hot,' although I guess she must be otherwise they wouldn't cast her in such a big franchise like the 'Twighlight' series. Anyways, I like her-- and her acting is really quite special; mainly in roles nobody's seen her in, such as in the vastly underrated 'In The Land Of The Women' and her brief appearance in 'Into The Wild.'

Emmanuelle Chriqui is why we all watch 'Entourage' and the only reason guys saw 'You Don't Mess With The Zohan' in cinemas rather than waiting for the DVD.

Julia Roberts doesn't seem to get that much attention anymore. But she's great. I know that, you know that. Everybody loves Julia Roberts. She's not the hottest actress working today, but is deserving of a Lifetime Achievement In Being Hot Award or something like that.

Jessica Alba has a habit of turning up in really bad movies and making them entirely watchable. Your girlfriend turns to you and says 'Did you understand the story?' and you sit there panicked, wondering to yourself if there was a story, or indeed any actors on screen other than Alba.

Emma Watson. I don't know. The jury's out. She's evidently very beautiful, but then you might also say she's very young. Luckily I'm not really very old. I like her, I think.

Charlize Theron will always manage to make lists like this, which she definitely deserves, but weirdly -- nobody is ever that excited by her. But her acting is great, in a boring kind of way.

So what do you think? I must apologize to all you Angelina Jolie lovers, but she just doesn't do it for me. I also feel kind of bad for leaving off Kirsten Dunst and Rachel Bilson, because in years gone by they would have been right in there. Luckily, I'm sure they'll get over not being on my list.

  3. I agree, Audrey Tautou should be there. And no Winona Ryder?

  4. Great choices. I'd add Halle Berry. Also, Sharon Stone. She's like Cameron Diaz--no one really cares anymore. But--I think Stone radiates in photographs.

  5. They are all very beautiful. I'd have to go with Julia Roberts. She's the classiest.

  6. From that list I'd say Scarlet Johannson is the hottest. Julia Roberts is the most beautiful. I dont know how old you are but the kid from Twilight and Emma Watson shouldn't be on these kind of lists in my opinion...are they even over 18 yet? I do love Natalie Portman, but I wouldn't call her hot, more cute. What's your list of the hottest actresses of all time?

  7. Yes, you left off Elisha Cuthbert. Explain yourself. The hottest thing in '24' and the best thing about the appalling 'Love Actually' - no wait, the 2nd best thing about Love Actually after Denise Richards (and where is she on the list?!). See 'Wild Things' and the massively underrated 'Starship Troopers' to see why she should deffo be here.

I'm glad you put Sloan from Entourage on here - should make more people tune in to what is easily the best show on TV right now.

Also missing from your list are:

Lindsay Lohan - Yes, she's not all there in the head, but redeems herself with 'Mean Girls'.

Jennifer Aniston - No explanation needed.

Carla Gugino - AKA Karen Sisco, who's also turned up in 'Entourage' - but the role that gets her on the list is her turn as uber-hot Lesbian parole office Lucille in 'Sin City'.

Jennifer Garner - You know it makes sense.

And the last one I think even you will regret including is the delightful Kat Dennings - who first came to our attention as the daughter in 'The 40 Year Old Virgin' and then turned up that Nick and Nora Playlist thingy. She's also a regular video-blogger. Check out her stuff on YouTube (and whilst you are there, check out her 'stuff' on YouTube too...)

  8. I also vote for Audrey Tautou ... firstly because Amelie made me fall in love all over again with films and secondly because she is playing me when I become uber-famous and they make a star-studded movie of my life ... she is, she just doesn't know it yet :P

Ps: I loathe Julia Roberts :/

  9. Vanessa - the kids you mention are both 19, so no need to alert the authorities.

Quizarvo - Carla Gugino is very hot! Forgot all about her. I like Kat Dennings too; although, I prefer Ellen Page to her, if we're going by Michael Cera's co-stars (not that we are). Oh and, as we're talking about Michael Cera's co-stars let me also say a 'No way!' to Jennifer Garner too!

As for Denise Richards, does she still act?

Vanessa - Of all time? I'll blog that one soon!

Girl/New Film - Audrey Tatou? Meh. No!

Seaton/Quizarvo - Elisha Cuthbert, I must admit I forgot about her; but I don't think she adds anything new to the list!

  10. Oh, and Thandie Newton, but only in Mission Impossible II. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

  11. Audrey Tautou, naturally beautiful, especially in 'l'auberge espagnole' ("Pot Luck" in english)

    Penelope Cruz, spanish sensation

Angelina Jolie, without all the make-up, in her more 'down to earth roles'.

  12. Ah, I must be on drugs -- Scarlett's a beauty, but I've never been a big fan of hers (sorry!). Do love me some Natalie Portman, Monica Belluci, and Michelle Pfeiffer though! And I'd suggest Nicole Kidman :)

  13. i agree with nikolett.. for some reason i've never been a huge fan of scarlett. she's definitely a beauty tho. i also love jennifer aniston..she may not be the best actress but she's hilarious!

  14. What about Selma Hayek? She's stunning.

  15. I do agree on Michelle, she is in my opinion one of the best. but I do not agree on Charlize, maybe coz she is South African also, but one does not get awards for being a boring actress. As for Megan, I have never seen one of her films, but she is sizzling hot, love her, surely one of the most featured girls on my blog. Great blog by the way, thanks for commenting on mine, I appreciate your visit and hope to see you around again.
    Colin.
